Each year 3.5 Million new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in the US and 80,000 in Canada. Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer. It is also one of the most preventable. The major contributor to skin cancer is overexposure to the Sun and indoor UV lights, but we all enjoy the sun and can't be healthy without it. The sun improves our mood and helps our skin generate natural vitamin D, which is an essential hormone to the functioning of several of our body systems.
The Violet app was developed by a group of software and biomedical engineers to accurately estimate the invisibe UV dose that users receive under the current weather conditions at their location. Violet's patented algorithms take into account the users' body characteristics including their age, gender, and skin type to personalize the recommendations and actionable notifications pushed to them. Our app does not only display your UV and vitamin D daily accumulation, it keeps track of the estimated time left before your skin receives the maximum safe dose as well as the time needed to get the recommended vitamin D dose.
All the data you save in the Violet app is stored securely on our servers hosted by a World leading technology company. Your data will not be shared with any 3rd party or partner until you authorize us to do so. We could share your data anonymously but only for research purpose.
Violet is not a medical device. You can look at it as a fitBit or a fitness tracker for UV rays. With this beta testing, we hope to improve the app's user experience and the algorithm accuracy. We also hope that you give us an honest feedback so we can improve our technology and hopefully educate people on the danger of overexposure to the sun.
We hope you find Violet useful and we hope you enjoy the Violet experience!

Think about it as a scale measuring both the UV dose hitting your skin and the vitamin D generated from your exposure to the sun. You won't have to guess anymore. Violet® Mobile App accurately estimates how much time you have left in the sun before it becomes dangerous. It estimates with high accuracy your daily vitamin D from the sun in IUs
